I'm Carla. Every time a mum walks into my studio in Pollena Trocchia, just outside Naples — with her bump or with a days-old baby in her arms — I know she is trusting me with the most precious thing she has. Everything starts from there.
The tiny fingers, the yawns, the little lip trembling in sleep: right now you'd swear you could never forget them. Then three months go by, and you already can't remember how small he was. My job, in the end, is simply this: keeping those details safe for you, in newborn and maternity photographs made gently, without rushing and without forced poses.
When your baby still sleeps the way he slept in the womb: curled up, soft, completely at peace. That's when the sweetest photos are born — which is why it's lovely to get in touch while you're still pregnant, so everything is ready at birth.
In the studio, your baby is in charge. It's as warm as a hug, the lights are soft, and we stop as often as needed: feeding, changing, cuddles. All you have to do is sit there and watch him sleep.
